The Center for Computational Diagnostics was designed to allow physicians and scientists from different disciplines, such as biology, chemistry, computer engineering, information visualization, and mathematics, to work together to solve difficult clinical problems. Investigators at the Center for Computational Diagnostics use the challenges encountered in the clinic to focus the efforts of our research. Our main focus is to identify new approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of childhood cancer and heart disease. |

The Center for Environmental Health will focus on the human health effects of the environment, which influences the initiation and progression of many chronic diseases such as cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, heart disease, asthma and diabetes. The center will tackle the health impact of such traditional environmental concerns as air, soil, and water pollution, but environmental health science also includes the impact on human health of lifestyle and personal decisions such as smoking and diet. |

O'Brien Research Center for Advanced Renal Microscopic Analysis - Bruce Molitoris, MD, director In June 2002, the IU Division of Nephrology received NIH funding to establish a George M. O'Brien Research Center for Advanced Renal Microscopic Analysis. A primary goal of this center is to develop new optical methodologies for investigators in Nephrologic and Urologic research. Approaches include intravital microscopy, 3-dimensional imaging and quantitative microscopic analyses. |

Riley Child Development Center — John D. Rau, MD, director The Riley Child Development Center (RCDC), a University Affiliated Program (UAP), serves families and children from infancy through adulthood who present developmental delays, behavior and learning problems, stressful life situations, and chronic handicapping conditions. The RCDC provides service, outreach and technical assistance, research, and interdisciplinary pre-service training. In addition, basic and advanced degree training experience in disciplines including audiology, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, medical/genetics, psychology, speech/language pathology, pediatric dentistry, pediatric neurology, social work, child psychiatry, special education, health administration, and nutrition are available to professional trainees. The RCDC is part of a national network funded by the Bureau of Maternal and Child Health and Resources Department and the Administration on Developmental Disabilities of the Department of Health and Human Services. Its mission is to support the independence, productivity, and integration into the community of all citizens across the life span with developmental disabilities. |
