HOW TO APPLY

SPECIAL APPLICATION UPDATE: Many local hospitals have put in place restrictions because of the H1N1 flu outbreak discontinuing student observation experiences at this time.  It is possible that applicants will not be able to schedule any additional or new experiences before the end of the fall semester or prior to the applicant's interview.  All of the Health Professions Programs Admissions Committees are aware of this impact.  Because of these restrictions, below are adaptations made to this year's application process:

Radiation Therapy - Students who have completed clinical observation experiences should still attach the appropriate documentation to their application.  The eight (8) hour requirement at two (2) different locations will not be enforced this year.

Respiratory Therapy - Students who have completed clinical observation experiences should still attach the appropriate documentation to their application.  The three (3) hour requirement will not be enforced this year.  The Program's Admissions Committee recommends that each applicant view a video titled "Life and Breath" which is available on the American Association of Respiratory Care website at http://www.aarc.org/career.

Please check this site for additional updates.

Thank you for your interest in applying to the Indiana University School of Medicine Health Professions Programs (HPP).  Below are the available degree programs. All programs require that applicants meet their minimum admissions requirements. To learn more about these requirements, please look at the program's section in the IUPUI campus bulletin (2008-10).  Please refer to Admissions Checklist & Deadlines to ensure you are ready to apply.

The application for admission for entry in spring, summer, or fall 2009 can be found in the left-hand menu under "Application & Required Forms."  Please use that link to either download the application (available in PDF format) or use the fill-in form option to complete the document online before printing.  If you have any questions, please contact the HPP Administrative Office at (317) 278-4752 or email askhpp@iupui.edu.

Prerequisites for each program can be found in the advising information section of the HPP website.  Below are the direct links to the advising sections of each program.  Below are the available programs:

Clinical Laboratory Science, BS       Cytotechnology, BS      Medical Imaging Technology, BS
Nuclear Medicine Technology, BS      Paramedic Science, AS      Radiation Therapy, BS
     Radiography, AS      Respiratory Therapy, BS

Important things to note:

  • All Applicants to the Health Professions Programs must first complete an application for enrollment on the IUPUI campus http://iupui.edu/apply, (317)-274-4591, or apply@iupui.edu.  Actively enrolled students on the IUPUI campus do not need to complete this process.  However, if you last enrolled at the IUPUI campus more than one year ago, you must update your enrollment status.
  • It is extremely important to pay attention to the various application deadlines.  Applications received after the program's stated deadline will be given second priority.  In some instances, that means waiting and additional year to be considered.
  • Do not overlook the various admissions policies available to applicants.  These polices could improve your chances of being admitted.
  • Some programs have additional forms which must be submitted at time of application.
  • International applicants should follow instructions found at http://www.iupui.edu/~oia (click on "International Admissions").  For more informatin on the international student application process, please contact (317) 274-7000 or intlaff@iupui.edu.
  • Downloadable documents throughout Health Professions Programs website are available in Adobe Acrobat format only.  To ensure optimum Adobe Acrobat capabilities download the latest free Adobe Reader
  • Histotechnology students please refer to the link on the left or click here
  • Enrollment at Indiana University does not guarantee admission to any of the IU School of Medicine Health Professions Programs.  To be eligible for admissions to one of these programs, students must adhere to the academic regulations of the academic unit in which they are enrolled and meet School and individual program preadmission requirements as stipulated in the general education and program sections of the most recent bulleting.  Admission to many programs is competitive; therefore, completion of the prerequisites and meeting the minimum grade point averages does not guarantee admission to the program.  To be considered for admission, students must complete an application in the year prior to entry by the program's stated application deadline.

Please contact us if you have any questions about the application.  It is better to ask for help than run into difficulties later in gaining admission.  Our staff can be reached at (317) 278-4752 or askhpp@iupui.edu.
