The Department of Radiation Oncology is part of the Indiana University School of Medicine. Peter Johnstone, M.D., FACR, serves as chair of the department.
Located just west of the beautiful and growing Indianapolis downtown, the school and IUPUI campus are part of a thriving community and center for academic and medical excellence. Currently, the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center program is the largest multidisciplinary clinical facility for the treatment of cancer in Indiana. It houses more than a dozen interdisciplinary cancer programs, enabling patients to receive inpatient care, outpatient chemotherapy, and radiation therapy treatments all in one building.
The new $150 million IU Simon Cancer facility (photo at right) accepted its first patients in October 2008. The IU Simon Cancer Center provides 80 new private inpatient rooms and 50 new outpatient infusion chairs for cancer treatment, along with numerous amenities and support services for patients and their families.
Patients with certain diagnoses may also be referred to our Midwest Proton Radiotherapy Institute located in Bloomington, Indiana. Click the graphic below to find out more about this outstanding facility.
