The Indiana University School of Medicine Class of 1943 established the Robert A. Garrett Scholarship. The scholarship is named in honor of Dr. Garrett, the first chair of the Department of Urology and one of the nation's first urologists to sub-specialize in pediatric urology.
Gifts to this endowed fund are invested in perpetuity, and earnings are used to provide support for a student's medical education. More than $124,000 has been raised since the fund was established in 1998.
This year's recipient of the Class of 1943 Robert A. Garrett Scholarship is receiving $6,500 toward tuition because of the generosity of members of the Class of 1943.
The amount of aid awarded increases as the fund grows. Annual tuition at the School of Medicine has now eclipsed $25,000 for Indiana residents and $42,000 for non-residents, so your contribution to this class scholarship will make a difference to future medical students.
